The IES La Florida de Las Torres de Cotillas has created a conflict resolution and mediation team, which consists of about 15 volunteer students.
"They have been specifically trained for this in extracurricular hours by Carmen Cano, president of the Association for Mediation Region of Murcia," explains Mayor Joaquín Vela Fernández.
Cano, with more than 20 years of experience in the school environment, has developed this project in the center that has had a 20-hour training of teachers through the Regional Center for Teachers and Resources (CPR), in addition to the sessions of a total of 8 hours for students and a 2-hour talk for tutors.
From now on, if there is a conflict between two students, they are invited to go to the mediation service and the possible sanction is paralyzed.
If they are able to make peace and find a beneficial solution for both of them, the sanctioning party will not apply.
"In this way the student takes responsibility for his actions, is respectful of himself and others, and for the center coexistence is much better," said Councilor for Education, Rafael Martínez García, who reports that this training has been funded by the Torreño City Council.
