Archery, tennis, skating, rhythmic gymnastics, Nordic walking, paddle tennis, mixed soccer, basketball, badminton, gymnastics, racquetball, hockey skates, swimming ... Many were the disciplines that were practiced yesterday Sunday March 8 during the I Sports Festival For the Equality of Las Torres de Cotillas.
Included in the events to commemorate the International Day for Women's Rights and World Peace organized by the Department of Equality, was attended by about 1,500 people who did not want to miss this great day of living together.
With the facilities of the municipal sports center as a stage and the collaboration of the Department of Health and Sports and Culture, the different proposals were followed throughout the morning for the whole family.
Other activities arrived at the end of the morning, such as a concert by the local band and the reading of a manifesto for equality.
This was the responsibility of a female representation of the municipality of different ages, the councilor of the María del Mar area Ruiz Rosillo and the mayor Joaquín Vela Fernández.
To conclude, the participants enjoyed the performance of the Cotijazz association and the free tasting of a giant paella.
"It was a real party, watching our neighbors from all corners of the sports center enjoying a magnificent day with two clear messages: on the one hand, that sport is a great tool to have a great time in a healthy way; and, on the other , the need to achieve effective equality of men and women, "highlights the mayor.
"Let us fight so that our sons and daughters can inherit this scenario of rights and freedom, which nobody should dare to put in danger," he says.
