| Among other tasks, their pits and platforms are cleaned and disinfected, and their hydraulic systems are checked and greased | The 35 containers that the municipality of Las Torres de Cotillas has are being subjected to an annual review during these days.
"These are preventive maintenance tasks for these urban solid waste collection points (RSU), which are framed in the annual work plan of the service concessionaire, Urbaser, following the technical specifications of the equipment," says the councilor for City Maintenance and First Deputy Mayor, Marian Fernández Fernández. These tasks include the comprehensive cleaning and disinfection of the pits and platforms of all containers, as well as the review and lubrication of their hydraulic systems, and the verification of their opening and safety mechanisms.
These tasks also perform leachate suction and aesthetic conditioning and maintenance, such as replacement of identification plates. "It is basic in our service to the citizen to guarantee the correct operation and security of these underground deposits permanently," says the mayor of Torreño, Joaquín Vela Fernández, who highlights the main characteristics of these containers: reducing the visual impact on the municipality, allowing gain space, and minimize odor problems from these residues.
