| The surveillance work in public spaces has been extreme, but the neighbors are also asked to be responsible in their private meetings | The City Council of Las Torres de Cotillas has held an extraordinary meeting of the local security coordination table this morning, Wednesday, August 12, which has been chaired by Mayor Joaquín Vela Fernández.
The main objective of this meeting was to assess the current situation in the municipality of the health crisis due to COVID-19, before which the surveillance of the security forces has intensified throughout the town (parks, streets, hospitality terraces ...) . In this meeting, the main issue has been concern because the majority of infections in Las Torres de Cotillas are occurring in family gatherings.
"There is a false sense of security that with loved ones and acquaintances there is no danger from the virus, but that is not true and security measures must also be taken in the private sphere," says the Councilor for Citizen Security, Francisco José Caravaca Bravo.
The mayor has also participated in a session that was attended by the councilor for Social Services, María del Mar Ruiz Rosillo, the sergeant of the local Civil Guard post and the Local Police, and the coordinator of the municipality's Health Center . "The best way to stop contagions is something as simple as complying with basic safety rules: minimum interpersonal distance of 1.5 meters, use of a mask and permanent hand hygiene.
We must be responsible and not lower our guard", indicates the Torreño mayor, who reports that there are already 230 complaints in Las Torres de Cotillas for violating the regulations on the use of masks.
