Defending the CP La Salceda shirt from Las Torres de Cotillas they have won gold in the triplet modality of the championship played in Mojácar (Almería), a tournament in which about 30 teams from all over the country have participated.
"We give them the biggest congratulations because they deserve it, despite their youth they are great athletes," says the Councilor for Health and Sports, Verónica Morcillo De La Torre. To start the championship, the young torreños won four games from the Swiss international to go to the second round.
Later, already in the direct elimination round, they won four other games - including the semifinal against the 2019 champion - to stand in the final.
In this last game, those of CP La Salceda beat CP José Zurrón (Ceuta), who won the silver. "It is a tremendous happiness to see how the young people of the La Salceda club demonstrate that the generational change is assured in this traditional sport, which in our municipality has great relevance," highlights Torreño mayor, Joaquín Vela Fernández, who recalls that this success add to last weekend.
And it is that in the same scenario the members of the team of triples of the Torreño club hung the bronze in the senior national championship.
