| It has presented two projects for the installation of photovoltaic systems for self-consumption in these public buildings to the aid program called by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge | The City Council of Las Torres de Cotillas, in its policy aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change, continues to support the energy efficiency of municipal buildings.
For this reason, it has presented initiatives to the call for aid for photovoltaic installations for the generation of electricity with renewable energy sources called by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge.
"These are projects to install self-consumption photovoltaic systems in the local security center and in the municipal swimming pool, as has already been done in the 'Pedro Serna' House of Culture," says Mayor Joaquín Vela Fernández. These renewable energy systems have two saving objectives: on the one hand, the annual emission of thousands of kilos of CO2 to the environment; and, on the other, the economic one, by significantly reducing the electricity consumption of these buildings. "These projects have a budget of 80,000 euros and will allow us to advance in the achievement of the sustainable development objectives, in reducing the carbon footprint and in guaranteeing the generation of clean, renewable and non-polluting energies", indicates the Councilor for Economy and European Projects, Francisco Jesús López Manzanera. These grants, co-financed with funds from the European Union and managed through the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), are intended to subsidize projects that are completed before June 30, 2023.
