| The Department of Equality has carried out this striking and colorful action, in which traffic signs have also been painted to raise awareness of this social scourge | The City Council of Las Torres de Cotillas has wanted to take to the streets the commemoration of the international day against gender violence, which as every year takes place on November 25.
To this end, it has developed a direct and highly visual activity to raise awareness against this social scourge: painting benches and traffic signs in various parts of the municipality.
"It has been done at the door of educational centers, in parks, at bus stops ...
In short, in places with a lot of people passing by so that this message reaches the maximum number of inhabitants of the municipality," explains the councilor of Equality, Elisa Isabel Hurtado Avilés. On the benches, which now show a striking lilac color, the message "Educate in equality" can be read, while the vertical signs show the phrase "No to violence", with a lilac ribbon included.
"It is a reinforcement of this year's campaign, which among other actions has a distribution of 3,500 masks that will help to make this social scourge visible to the entire population," says Torreño mayor, Joaquín Vela Fernández.
