Torreño young athlete Sergio Jornet signed a creditable eighth place in the category of decathlon championship of Spain XCVI all played this weekend in Gijon.
A competition that brought together nearly 700 athletes at the sports complex "Las Mestas" gijonés and where Torreño got a mark of 6,093 points, on a test that Jorge Urena won with 7,900 points.
"It's a great result because it rubs shoulders with the great absolute athletes of our country when you still have a couple of years to get to that category," said Councilman Athletics and exercise, Ginés Pérez Iniesta, recalling that this same year and participated in the indoor Championships held in Madrid where he was also eighth.
"My goal was to improve my mark, which is 6,308, because I was very well physically," Jornet explains, "but may fatigue the end of season is too heavy."
The young Torreño, this campaign defends T-Shirt UCAM Cartagena, competing in his third decathlon all doing this year when the moment is promising first year.
"With this competition just the season and already begin in September with spring training," he explains the young athlete, who in December will begin the season with the goal of getting the brand to compete in the championship of selections to be held the first January weekend.
