The Department of Health and Physical Activity and Sports Cotillas Towers will participate in the program "Active Families" proposed by the Ministry of Health and focused to fight childhood obesity.
To do pediatricians and family physicians prescribe exercise sessions to children 6 to 12 years who present overweight or with a sedentary life.
"The sessions will be twice a week for eight months, the lead graduate monitors in Sports Science and participants must be accompanied by parents or a family member," says Councilman Athletics and exercise, Ginés Perez, noting that this experience "only be performed in four municipalities in the region".
The initiative of the Ministry of Health and the Association of Pediatric Outpatient and Primary Care Region (APERMAP), in collaboration with the Torreño, which will be responsible for providing the monitors and sports facilities.
The "Active Program"
This proposal stems from the "Active Program" aimed at adults, which has carried out in the municipality four years and which have already benefited more than 400 users.
"In September a year back this program, whose objective is to promote physical activity and prevent both obesity and other cardiovascular risk factors," says the mayor.
A program that initially targeted specifically at elderly patients with a risk factor, but whose target population has now begun to expand.
