This Friday, February 24 ends in Las Torres de Cotillas the initial part of the school campaign "Good environmental practices urban", organized by the Department of Environment in collaboration with "Ecoembes".
"The aim of this campaign is to promote in our children values ​​and knowledge that will help them to develop positively in the face of urban and environmental problems," explains Inmaculada Fernández, a councilor of the area, who highlights "the potential of school children to raise awareness among their families ".
The schools participating in this environmental awareness project have been "Valentín Buendía", "Monte Azahar", "Vista Alegre", "Susarte", "Joaquín Cantero", "Cervantes" and "El Parque".
The current phase is developed in the schools themselves, where students are trained on consumption and energy and water saving, noises, knowledge of current regulations in the municipality on protection and possession of pets, potentially dangerous dogs, collection Excrement in the public road, time and frequency of waste collection, etc.
Second part
Aimed at students in grades 4 and 5 of Primary Education, in the second part of this initiative, schoolchildren will visit the Waste Water Treatment Plant (EDAR) in the municipality in the coming weeks.
During their visit, the students will know the different areas of the plant and their operation, as well as the process of wastewater treatment that takes place at this station.
The WWTP of Las Torres de Cotillas, located in the area of ​​Soto de los Ritas in the hamlet of La Loma along the Segura River, has about 40,000 square meters and a capacity to purify 12,500 cubic meters of water per day.
