The two parishes of Las Torres de Cotillas are today April 13, Holy Thursday, the epicenter of the day of the local Holy Week in which the processions rest.
Thus, the program of the Cabildo Superior of Confraternities Torreño has celebrated in the afternoon of today two masses to commemorate the Lord's Supper, celebrations that have taken place in the middle afternoon in the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption of Los Pulpites as in the Of Our Lady of the Salceda.
Later, the two parishes will once again welcome acts of this week of passion, namely the celebration of the Holy Hour: La Asunción at 10 pm and La Salceda at 10:30 p.m.
It should be remembered that these Holy Thursday services - prior to the day that recalls the death of Jesus Christ - begin the Easter Triduum commemorating his passion, death and resurrection, and which will culminate in the vigil of the night of Holy Saturday to Easter Sunday.
Holy Friday
Tomorrow Good Friday, April 14, will have to rise early in the municipality to enjoy a Via Crucis that will depart from the parish of Our Lady of the Assumption and the procession of Calvary, the oldest of the local Holy Week.
At 9 o'clock this parade will take place from the church of Nuestra Señora de la Salceda in which the eight brotherhoods of the town will take part, carrying the thrones of the Samaritan, Saint Peter, Christ of the Flagellation, Our Father Jesus Nazarene, Veronica and Christ Of the Fall, Holy Crucified Christ, St. John and Our Lady of Sorrows.
The activity will be divided in the afternoon between the two churches of the municipality.
The parish of Our Lady of the Assumption will host the celebration of the Passion and Death of the Lord (18 hours), an event that will also be held at the same time in the parish of Our Lady the Salceda.
Already at night, the streets of Las Torres de Cotillas will host the procession of the Holy Burial of Christ (21 hours), of the Church of Our Father Jesus Nazareno, who will take his steps known as 'The Bed', the Christ.
All the gravity of Holy Week Torrena will concentrate on this parade, which every year has more popular support.
Also carried out by the eight brotherhoods of Torrena, the image of Our Lady of Mercy, holder of the brotherhood of the same name, will be opened by the Virgen de la Soledad, of the Brotherhood of the Virgin of Sorrows.
"This year 'Supermercados Consum' has added to our Holy Week celebrations contributing more than 50,000 candies so that these dates are much sweeter," says the president of the Cabildo Superior de Cofradías de Las Torres de Cotillas, José Sánchez.
