The Town Hall of Las Torres de Cotillas celebrated on the afternoon of Saturday June 24 its traditional 'Homenaje al Huertano', in which Marcos García Guirado was recognized as 'Huertano del Año', thus distinguishing a whole life dedicated to the orchard And to symbolize the traditional values ​​of the municipality.
The event, organized by the Las Torres Literary Association, was presided over by Mayor Torreño, Domingo Coronado, and as every year a floral offering was made to the monument that presides over the Plaza del Huertano in the town.
In addition, as is tradition in this event the popular author Torreño Salvador Sandoval read a reminder of the horticultural roots of the municipality.
Also, in that statue was placed as a posthumous tribute a plaque in memory of Joaquin Fernandez, founder of the rock 'L'Almazara' and recently deceased.
His grandchildren and his widow made an offering in his honor at the foot of the monument and both members of his rock and his own daughter remembered his figure with emotional interventions.
As a culmination of this act, in which the amateur theater group 'Tejuba' collaborated, the group Huertana Torreña offered a sample of regional dances.
Subsequently the entourage moved to the Social Center of the neighborhood of San Pedro, where the theater group of the Home of the Elderly represented the play 'The park of Maria Risa'.
There the rock 'L'Almazara' went back to action and a reading of poems by Salvador Sandoval was celebrated.
