The City of Las Torres de Cotillas will allocate the collection of speed control campaigns with radar that are being carried out periodically in the municipality to improve the road signs of the town.
Thus it was recently agreed in municipal plenary session, with the abstention of the PSOE, Citizens and Change Las Torres.
"These campaigns do not have a desire to collect, since their only objective is to control the excesses of speed in our municipality, especially in the areas where we have received neighborhood complaints," explains Citizen Security Councilor Gloria Fernández.
These controls, which the Local Police has been carrying out in different local roads this year with the technical support of an external company (which then handles the processing of fines), are announced 48 hours in advance in the municipal media, As well as in their social network accounts.
Ads that add to the usual signage that in the entrances to the locality inform that in the Torres de Cotillas the speed of the traffic is controlled by radar.
"We are not obliged to warn of these campaigns, but it is a way to seek awareness among citizens to improve traffic safety because - I repeat - our intention is not to fine and collect", says the mayor, who clarifies that in these controls According to article 89 of Legislative Royal Decree 6/2015 it is not necessary to stop the infringing vehicle to denounce it and wanted to emphasize "that the security forces never fined anyone unless the law is violated."
Coordination with the Civil Guard
"In addition we have requested coordination with the Civil Guard so that the campaigns that make of this type in areas of the municipality that the City has not received, such as the N-344, do not overlap with the municipal ones, because it is not our objective that the citizen Feel persecuted with these controls, "says Fernandez.
The planned road sign improvements, which will begin shortly, will be directed to the installation of mechanisms that control the speed of vehicles, such as bumps or reducing bands, "according to the needs expressed by the citizens," Fernández points out.
