New sporting landmark of the young athlete Torreño Sergio Jornet.
And there are already many.
The Las Torres de Cotillas combined test specialist took place this past weekend with the gold medal in the Spanish Championship of decathlon sub 23 open air at the 'Parc Central' sports facilities in Torrent (Valencia).
The athlete of the club UCAM Cartagena proclaimed champion of his test with a mark of 6,699 points, followed by the Valencian Vicente Navarro (6.422), while third was the Galician Adolfo Sainz-Maza (6.344).
"Sergio is a sure bet on our sporting scene, a great athlete as he demonstrated by making debut a few months ago with the absolute Spanish selection of heptathlon", explains Torreño Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Ginés Pérez.
"Congratulations, Sergio, you are a pride for the whole municipality of Las Torres de Cotillas", says the mayor.
As an example of his great sports curriculum, Jornet was raised last February with another national title, in this case heptathlon on indoor track also in sub-23 category.
In addition, the young man has a large number of medals in national championships combined tests in the lower categories and was chosen last November as "Best athlete of the year male promise" by the FAMU.
