The "Monte Azahar" school of Las Torres de Cotillas has opened at the beginning of this school year 2017-18 an open secondary education classroom, which has specialized professionals to work with students with a medium to severe disability.
"It is a resource that allows better care and assistance for these students who have special educational needs, which require continued support and that could not be in any center with an ordinary integration," explains Councilor for Education, Pedro Cabrera, which on Thursday September 7 accompanied the director general of Attention to Diversity and Educational Quality, Maria de la Esperanza Moreno, during her visit to the center.
The professionals assigned to this classroom are a specialist in Therapeutic Pedagogy, another in Audition and Language, and an educational technical assistant.
Minors will be referred to this service according to the report of the counselor of their center of origin - whether of the municipality or other adjoining that do not have this resource - and prior assessment of the teams of the Ministry of Education.
"This new classroom is the result of an agreement with the Ministry and with it we covered the needs that we had detected in our educational community and improved the quality response to the students of Las Torres de Cotillas," says the mayor.
