The Civil Protection Corps of Las Torres de Cotillas gave its headquarters on Thursday 28 September a free first aid workshop addressed to the volunteer group of the Municipal Center of Social Services.
The objective of this basic course is to provide the students with the most basic knowledge in order to offer effective help to people who are in an emergency situation, either by accident or illness, in order to face those decisive first minutes with maximum security.
"Among our objectives is to keep our volunteers in shape, since the greater their knowledge, the better they will develop their work", explains the Councilor for Social Services, María Dolores Sánchez, who recalls other talks, such as those on awareness- gender violence or mental illness.
A solidarity program
"This volunteer program seeks to foster the solidarity of residents of the municipality to improve the living conditions of their community," says Sánchez, who recalls that it is carried out through activities of accompaniment, leisure and free time, social insertion, cultural and sporting events, etc.
"All this is done with different groups: elderly people, disabled, children at risk, people at risk of social exclusion ...", he adds.
"If anyone is interested in joining this initiative you can request it at the Social Services Center", the mayor invites, remembering that at present this program has about 20 volunteers.
