The Municipal Shelter of Las Torres de Cotillas has been the scene today on Sunday, November 5, of a fun multi-adventure day, which has had a great participation of people of all ages.
"Scout games and dynamics have been practiced, orientation tests, archery, zip line, monkey bridge, face painting and handicrafts, among other adventure activities in nature", explains the councilor for Youth, Physical Activity and Sports, Ginés Pérez, who has attended this family-marked air event with Torreño mayor, Domingo Coronado.
This has been the fourth activity of the European project 'Do-U-Sport' and has been organized by the Department headed by Pérez, in collaboration with the archery club 'Orión', the group of scouts 'Ithaca' and the club of adventure 'Malvariche'.
"With initiatives like this we continue to promote healthy family activities and in particular transmitting values ​​of knowledge of the natural environment and respect for the environment, putting value on the natural landscape of the Rambla Salada as a protected area, in addition to knowing its fauna and flora ", says the councilor.
This proposal was part of the free family sports activities that are developed each month with this project, in which participants receive gifts, gifts and prizes.
"The people who participate in all these events and duly stamp their sports passport will be eligible for the draw for a trip to Portugal with all expenses paid," says the mayor, who recalls that other activities have already taken place, such as kite flying and of sports on wheels and racket.
"The next appointment will be the multicultural meeting 'Zumbaila', which will be held in the park 'Paco Rabal' next Sunday, December 3 at 11 o'clock," says Pérez.
European project
The European project 'Do-U-Sport' of the Erasmus + program has as its main objective to explore the role of local authorities in the promotion of sport as an activity for all, free of barriers.
In this initiative, which began last January and will last until December 2018, Las Torres de Cotillas participates in collaboration with the municipalities of Tábua (Portugal) and Mielec (Poland).
With a budget of almost 31,500 euros for the Torreño municipality, this project is subsidized by almost 75% by the European Commission.
"Consolidating the role of local authorities in promoting sports for all, increasing the number of people and organizations involved in sports activities at the local level or promoting a deeper understanding of how sports are seen and experienced in the municipalities are other of the objectives of this project that is already underway, "explains Pérez.
