A gazebo to solve the traffic problems of the exit of Las Torres de Cotillas by the district of La Media Legua.
That is the purpose that the Ministry of Public Works has already put in place, which has provisionally approved the document for the public information of a project that will have an investment of almost 900,000 euros and a term of execution of four months.
"Road safety and the problem of retentions in the area will be improved with the construction of a roundabout, which will have its corresponding lighting, and the reinforcement of the N-344 road on a 1.2-kilometer stretch", explains the mayor Torreño, Domingo Coronado, who recalls that to carry out these works "it will be necessary to expropriate nearly 2,600 square meters of nearby plantations".
And is that this area supports a daily average of almost 24,000 vehicles, many of them heavy trucks.
"Currently this crossing is regulated only by traffic lights, but we need a more complete solution because in the peak hours of entry and exit of the municipality traffic density is a big problem with queues of more than 50 vehicles," says Coronado, who recalls that This road is of national ownership.
After the performance, a signalized roundabout will be created in which the branch of the N-344 direction Molina-Murcia will take a traffic light with the red-amber sequence, to make way for the vehicles that join the roundabout from Las Torres de Cotillas .
The branch of incorporation from Las Torres de Cotillas will have a traffic light permanently in amber, with a red option, to be activated when appropriate.
"With this action will respond to a great historical demand of the residents of our town, and improve their quality of life, which is one of our permanent goals," recalls the mayor.
