Isabel María Zapata, of the popular municipal group, is already the first mayor in the history of Las Torres de Cotillas.
In the extraordinary municipal meeting held on Monday night, December 4, Zapata's candidacy received the most votes (10 from his group), compared to 4 from the PSOE, 3 from Ciudadanos and 2 from the of Changing the Towers, while the non-attached councilor María Ángeles García abstained.
"We will follow the line of government marked by Domingo Coronado, whom I thank for the experience acquired under his mandate and the trust placed in me," says the mayor, who extended her thanks to her party, the regional president Fernando López Miras and his colleagues from government team, which he said are "a great team, balanced, with great talent, professionalism and a lot of experience".
"I have not been in politics for a long time, but I have learned a lot from the hand of one of the best politicians and managers in our Region, Domingo Coronado, and I have occupied Councils that have allowed me to know in depth the municipal management", explains Zapata.
He also stressed that he is aware that he governs "in a minority" and offered opposition groups dialogue and negotiation bridges to reach consensus, always for the benefit of the people.
"I also ask for respect for the work of all the councilors," says the councilor, until now councilor for Urban Planning, Housing and Architecture.
