The informative sessions on the participatory budgets for the municipal accounts of 2018 have already begun in the schools of Las Torres de Cotillas. "The team of the University of Murcia is explaining to the students what they consist of and how they have developed in other cities, so that they can decide their proposals and present them in later sessions ", explains the mayor of Torrena, Isabel María Zapata.
"These proposals will be put to a vote according to previously established criteria and those that have more support will be reflected in the 2018-19 municipal budgets," says Zapata.
In this project, the Torreño City Council has the collaboration of the Council of Transparency of the Region of Murcia -with its president, José Molina, at the head- and the University of Murcia.
"We have allocated 30,000 euros in the next two annuities for these participatory budgets
Greater transparency and efficiency
"Participatory budgets should give greater transparency and efficiency even to our management of public resources," says the Councilor for Finance, Ángel González, who points out that this follows the path established by the strategy "Las Torres 2025 Come and Stay".
"This initiative collected for months ideas and proposals from citizens, concessionaires, entrepreneurs, merchants, cultural, political and social agents of the municipality," says González, who stresses that "it was a very enriching process."
