The works for the extension of the Infant and Primary School (CEIP) 'San José' of Las Torres de Cotillas have already begun.
This week the tastings are being carried out in the future location next to the center of the new building, an essential activity for the geotechnical study that will allow to conclude the definitive project of the work.
"The Ministry of Education and Universities will carry out this expansion, which is expected to make an investment of about 1,300,000 euros on a site of nearly 2,000 square meters of municipal ownership," explains the mayor Isabel María Zapata, thanking "the effort that the regional government is making to improve the conditions of the school community of Las Torres de Cotillas".
The center, where more than 500 students study, has a double line in all its courses and has separate Primary Education cycles in different buildings.
Students from 3rd to 6th grade of Primary School who are in the 'San José II' pavilion and are users of the cafeteria must go daily to the old center to use this service, accompanied by their instructors and crossing several streets on foot. traffic.
"In addition, there are teachers who teach classes in the two buildings, which complicates the coordination of teachers and involves a double cost of material resources," says Councilor for Education, Pedro Cabrera.
"With this project we respond to a historical demand of the educational community of this school, to unite all its educational lines in a single venue," says Cabrera.
