The Torreño Jaime Pardo (CA Murcia Tovarsport), teaming with the Catalans Eloi Santafé, Adriá Navajón and Joaquim Rodríguez, was proclaimed team champion with the Spanish team of the Iberian Tournament U-18 heptatlon.
The competition, played on indoor track, measured Spain with Portugal last weekend in Valencia.
A tournament in which the Torreño was seventh in the general classification thanks to a total of 4,135 points, with one less test, with the following marks: 7'34 '' in 60 meters, 6'21 meters in length, 12 ' 38 meters in weight, 1'70 meters in height, 8'69 '' in 60 meters hurdles, 2:51:57 in 1,000 meters and zero in pole.
"This was Jaime's first call with the Spanish team and we are very happy both for that good news and for the final result," says the Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Ginés Pérez.
Bad news for Jornet
On the other hand, Torreño Sergio Jornet (UCAM CA Cartagena) had been called up again by an absolute Spanish team for an international indoor heptatlon event.
This was also held this weekend in Madrid and was attended by France, Great Britain, Poland and the Czech Republic.
However, a sprain in the middle of the competition left KO to Sergio.
"After an exceptional first day he was on track to get the regional record, well above his mark, but after a fall heating up the fences he was injured and had to leave in the absence of two tests," explains Pérez, who anticipates that for Jornet, the winter season has ended prematurely.
Finally, the Spanish team managed to get on the podium after obtaining the third position, with 16,656 points.
