The City of Las Torres de Cotillas, together with those of Bullas, Cieza, Murcia and San Javier, participates in a pilot project on the implementation of the electronic labeling system for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) that is deposited in the eco-park municipal.
"When this type of waste arrives at the municipal eco-park, an electronic label is placed on it, it is read and assigned an encoding, which will be used by both the transporter that collects the waste and the treatment plant," explains the Councilor for the Environment, Inmaculada Fernández, who explains that "this pilot project will last for 3 months and will allow to know in real time the origin and management of the waste, as well as the costs, in the electronic platform that the Ministry of Energy will implement with the new regulations ".
This platform incorporates the principles of administrative simplification and telematic processing of public administrations, guaranteeing the control and traceability of waste.
"Thus there will be greater coordination between the Ministry, Autonomous Community and local entities, with the corresponding improvement of efficiency for WEEE managers," says the mayor.
The municipal eco-park of Las Torres de Cotillas collects more than 45 tons a year of electronic devices deposited by the inhabitants of the municipality, through the management of the contractor company CESPA and the association 'Reinicia', as an authorized WEEE manager.
