The House of Culture 'Pedro Serna' hosted on Friday night February 16 the reading of the proclamation of Carnival, which was in charge of the nursery school 'Soletes'.
An evening in which also the comparsas participants in the parades this weekend received a diploma accrediting their contribution to these celebrations.
"This weekend parade about 30 groups of the municipality, a very high participation of which we are very proud," explains the mayor Isabel María Zapata, who gave these awards in the company of the councilman of Celebrations, Amalia Pérez.
In addition, the night featured the performances of the chirigotas that the previous day were first and second in the 'I Contest of Chirigotas of Carnival', one of the novelties in these celebrations in the municipality: 'The Chiriwoman' -integrated only by women and champion- and the 'Chirigota Caravaca Chirigotín', both from Caravaca de la Cruz.
Everyone to parade
And today the first of the parades is celebrated through the streets of the municipality, in which hundreds of people will pour their imagination, their talent and all their desire to have fun.
Today, Saturday February 17 (17 hours) will be the adult parade, whose route will depart from Juan Carlos I Avenue and will arrive at the Ermita de la Cruz.
"Participate about 30 groups, all of our people," says the councilman of Celebrations.
For its part, the other novelty this year - the children's parade - will take place tomorrow, Sunday, February 18 (12 hours), with the same starting point, but with arrival at Mula street.
"All the parades of the town are a great representation of the social and cultural life of the municipality, and an example of how are Torreños: cheerful, lively, smiling and very inventive," says the council.
To close the celebrations, from 4:00 pm there will be inflatable attractions for children in the Esplanade Maestro Don Ángel Palazón.
