The school cross of Las Torres de Cotillas has enjoyed today, Wednesday, March 7, the largest participation in its history, with 1,325 boys and girls from the 12 schools in the municipality.
With the assistance of the mayor Isabel María Zapata and the general director of Sports Alonso Gómez, this test has been - as every year - a great sport festival in which the message of "the important thing is to participate" has had great prominence.
Since mid-morning the departure has been given every fifteen minutes to the scheduled races, in a day that has been divided into five categories, both in male and female: benjamin (500 meters), juvenile and infant (1,000 meters), and cadet and juvenile (2,000 meters), with three different circuits.
"The three best in each race have been awarded with their medal", explains Zapata, who emphasizes that "athletics is a very deep-rooted sport in our town, with great champions like the young Sergio Jornet and Jaime Pardo or the great veteran Angel Salinas "
