The Social Center for the Elderly of Las Torres de Cotillas is celebrating.
Today, Wednesday, March 14, the fifth anniversary of its current facilities, which were inaugurated in 2013, has been commemorated with a great convivial lunch. The appointment of the Family and Equality counselor was attended to this event, which has counted on the participation of some 300 users. of Oportunidades Violante Tomás and the mayor of Torreña Isabel María Zapata.
"The users of this center, which has about 5,000 members, are one of the most dynamic groups in our municipality and participate in many activities of the cultural and social life of Las Torres de Cotillas," says Zapata, who recalls that these facilities offer workshops of all kinds (memory, yoga, cutting and making, crafts, theater, computer ...) and services (podiatry, hairdressing, gymnastics ...).
A center built on Cristóbal Colón Street on a municipal plot of about 5,400 m2 and with 2,000 m2 distributed in two floors in which the Day Center and the Senior Social Center are located. "The social center improves the quality of life of the users, is a meeting point of social integration of the elderly people of the very valuable municipality, to favor their personal autonomy and the permanence in the usual environment, "says Tomás.
