As every year today March 15 is celebrated the 'World Day of the Rights of Consumers', after being declared in 1983 by the United Nations (UN).
"The rights of the consumer are one of the most vulnerable in our society, a good to defend, so this corporation has always felt sensitive in the support of all Torrena consumers," says the mayor of Las Torres de Cotillas Isabel María Zapata, who together with the general director of Consumption Francisco Abril presided over the press conference in which the Municipal Office of Consumer Information (OMIC) presented its 2017 balance.
"Over the last few years we have been seeing how the trust placed in our consumer service has been increasing, which we greatly appreciate," highlights Zapata, who highlights statistics that grow annually.
In fact, in 2017 the OMIC of Las Torres de Cotillas -municipality exceeding 22,000 inhabitants- handled a total of 9,835 files between consultations and claims, compared to the 370 records of 2006.
"We must emphasize that the boom of 2017 has been due to the famous land clauses imposed by financial institutions, followed in importance by the claims and consultations of telephony, internet, repair of vehicles, travel, etc.", specifies the councilor of Consuma Inmaculada Fernández, who also attended this event.
Consumer arbitration
"From the City Council we also appreciate the support of the 'Las Torres Business Area', since with them we have carried out several campaigns of adhesion to consumer arbitration, which is an extrajudicial procedure where disagreements of an economic or similar type are resolved between consumers and entrepreneurs, businesses or professionals ", explains Fernández.
The Consumer Arbitration Board offers an agile procedure characterized by gratuity, effectiveness (the dictates are mandatory), voluntariness (can only be used if both parties request it), simplicity and impartiality.
"Our municipality is the county seat of this Board, giving coverage to Alguazas, Ceutí, Lorquí, Javalí Nuevo and Campos de Río, whose neighbors move to our municipality to hold their virtual hearings with this arbitration system," explains the head of the OMIC torreña Francisco Juan Sánchez.
