The 4th and 5th grade primary school children of Las Torres de Cotillas are visiting the facilities of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) for one more year to know how it works.
This activity is part of the school campaign of good urban environmental practices, organized by the Department of Environment in collaboration with 'Ecoembes'.
"This annual campaign, underway in our town since 2006, is in its practical phase, which also raises visits to the municipal Ecoparque", explains the mayor Isabel María Zapata.
The participating schools in this environmental awareness project are the 'Valentín Buendía', 'Monte Azahar', 'Vista Alegre', 'Susarte', 'Joaquín Cantero', 'Cervantes' and 'El Parque'.
"The aim of this campaign is to encourage our children values and knowledge that will help them to develop positively in the face of urban and environmental problems," says Inmaculada Fernandez, councilor of the area, which highlights "the potential that schoolchildren have to raise their families "
The initial phase, developed in the schools themselves, trained schoolchildren about consumption and saving energy and water, noise, knowledge of current regulations in the municipality on protection and possession of companion animals, potentially dangerous dogs, collection of excrements on public roads, time and frequency of waste collection, etc.
