The municipalities of Las Torres de Cotillas and Firminy (France) are already twinned.
On March 20, this link was signed between both locations, in an event held at the House of Culture of Firminy, a UNESCO patrimony, in which the Councilor for Culture Torreño Pedro Cabrera and the Mayor of the town of Marc participated. Petit.
Firminy, a town located in the Rhône-Alpes region with nearly 20,000 inhabitants, began its relationship with Las Torres de Cotillas almost 10 years ago thanks to a school exchange program.
Since the beginning of this initiative, framed in the European project 'Comenius', about 600 students of the 'Lycée Albert Camus' and the IES 'Salvador Sandoval' have participated.
Many years of relationship
"So many years of relationship have created a very close link that has been reflected in this twinning, in which we had been working for a while," explains Cabrera, who points out that the event was also attended by students and teachers from the Torreño center who were in those dates of exchange with their 'brothers' Gauls.
Some exchanges that have served so that young people learn languages, know new places and encourage friendships that in many cases have become unbreakable.
