A proposal initiated by the City Torreño by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, with the participation of 14 stores and aims to reduce the indiscriminate use of single-use bags that supermarkets usually delivered to bag purchases.
In this campaign will participate in the town the following shops: bakery Costa Brothers "supermarkets" superdumb "," Eurosuper "," Serviprecio "," Olé "and" Zapata "fishmongers" Ana Belen "and" Salceda " and butchers "El Bierzo", "J. House," "Thomas", "Taray" and "Casa Jimenez."

Many benefits
This campaign is one of the actions arising from membership of the municipality to the Regional Strategy for Reduction of single-use bags "and was created with the intention of creating a new public attitude against its indiscriminate use to minimize environmental impact.
"This campaign aims to inform citizens that there is a reusable plastic bag at least 15 times, with 25% more capacity and more resistant than single-use bags," said Coronado, who recalls that "Despite having only a life of 12 minutes non-biodegradable plastic bags need 400 years to degrade and are consumed each year worldwide between 500 billion and a trillion of these bags."
"This bag is reusable at least 15 times, holds 25% more capacity and more durable than traditional plastic bags," notes Fernandez, who notes, "and is 100% recyclable (is deposited in the yellow) is manufactured with a minimum of 15% recycled material and workmanship requires less water and energy than traditional plastic bags. "
"Ultimately, this public awareness campaign seeks to address the exorbitant consumption of plastic bags for single use, fostered a habit of reusing and recycling," concluded the mayor Torrena.
