Students in the Secondary School (IES) No 2 of Cotillas Towers were shared first prize in the regional contest "All 100cia" organized by the Centre for Teachers of Lorca.
The students presented the research "I think therefore recycle", directed by Professors Laura Rocio Perez and Martinez, which explored the use of recycling by residents of The Towers of Cotillas.
In addition to fieldwork recycling workshops flowers, soaps, purses, sports equipment and paper handling.
The study results show that 56% of the population that recycle Torrena are women, compared to 22% of men.
By age group are over 45 years, 40%, who are more aware at the time of recycling and, although 80% of the population know the benefits of recycling, only 28% carried to term.
The main causes for the neighbors say they do not recycle are not familiar with where they have to carry the waste (39%), because there are no containers (30%) or lack of time (11%).
When raising awareness of recycling most of the neighbors asked for more information, more containers and fines for those who do not.

Thus, the host of Jose Antonio Sanchez interviewed live both students participating in the contest as the councilor Torrena Environment, Inmaculada Fernández.
"We are very proud of the achievement of our students, whose efforts have been recognized at regional level to demonstrate their extensive knowledge of recycling Cotillas Towers," said Fernandez, who was accompanied at the interview by the technician responsible for the area, Marina Martinez.
