City Council Cotillas Towers and the Ministry of Health, through the Foundation for Education & Research Health Murcia (FFIS) have signed a cooperation agreement to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyle within the "Program Enable", set in the Regional Health Plan 2010-2015.
One proposal that has been presented on the morning of Monday 12 November by Mayor Torreño, Domingo Coronado, his Councillor for Sports, Ginés Pérez Iniesta, the coordinator of strategic projects of the Ministry of Health, Asensio Lopez and deputy continuity of care processes of the hospital "Morales Meseguer", Gonzalo R.

"The goal is to increase physical activity from coordination between physicians and primary care nurses and the City," says Pérez Iniesta, which is basic to "encourage citizens to integrate it into your daily routine as a healthy habit. "
"Programs like this are vital to reduce obesity rates, reduce mortality from ischemic heart disease or improve the quality of life of people with high blood pressure or diabetes, among other diseases," said the mayor Torreño, who notes that the activities developed within the "Activate Program" will be held in municipal facilities with the presence of a monitor in a period of approximately ten weeks and in some 30 sessions for participants to improve "progressively" their fitness and learn exercises and activities that can do independently.
Little activity
According to the latest data published by the Health Survey of the National Statistics Institute, 50 percent of the region's citizens over age 20 do not make any kind of physical activity and 20 percent of them are obese.
With these data in hand, the minister highlighted the importance of influencing the need to adopt healthy habits and sports to prevent disease and improve the quality of life of our patients.
