The Department of Health, Environment, Agriculture, Water and Municipal Services Cotillas Towers has launched an awareness campaign to educate citizens in collecting sunflower seed shells on the street.
"We have seen the need for this initiative to prevent the dumping of this residue in the soil, both disfigure our streets and gardens, which are difficult and costly to remove," he explains acting area councilor, Inmaculada Fernández.
As the main focus of this campaign municipal technicians are distributing 10,000 bags to collect the waste deposit (known as "piperos") in establishments selling sweets (kiosks, bazaars ...).
"With each bag sold pipes will be distributed free of charge a 'Piper' customers to collect shells and then deposit them in the bins," said Fernandez, adding that it is also spreading this campaign through municipal media.
