Municipal Sports Pavilion in Las Torres de Cotillas has hosted the morning of Thursday July 30 closure of the pilot program "Active Families", which aims to fight childhood obesity through exercise prescription by pediatricians and family physicians.
The event was chaired by Councillor Athletics and exercise, and Youth, Ginés Pérez, and the director of the Foundation for Jesus Angel Sanchez Health Research and Training, and he's attending the children have received different proposal gifts for their participation.
Also they attended by the coordinator of the Center for Health Torreño, Juan Antonio Martinez, deputy chief medical officer of Care Continuity area 6, Gonzalo Sanz, and other members of the Municipal Corporation.
This free proposal again in September, develops multidisciplinary way from the departments of Health and Sports, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of the regional government.
Its main purpose is to prevent and once in the program children attend municipal facilities where-under the supervision and care appointment of a special sports instructor are introduced in a playful way in sports, while potentiate their social skills.
Families are also part of the program, participating actively in their own practices through educational sessions and talks.

The main objective of the program is to educate and form healthy habits by promoting physical exercise as children and adults who do not practice usually have greater risk of disease.
Therefore, children have taken part in the sessions five days a week in the mornings, combining different sports and aquatic practices aimed at awakening their interest in physical and sports activities.
On the other hand, parents have done with their children exercise two days a week and have attended educational sessions on healthy eating, family conflict resolution, healthy exercise and school parents.
This initiative is a continuation in the municipality "Active Program", which since October 2012 has the same objective in older age groups with cardiovascular risk factors, chronic diseases, etc.
By now, more than 300 citizens have benefited from these sessions of physical activity and from the Torreño is hoped that the "Active Families" have the same success.
