The Department of Public Health Cotillas Towers continues with his usual prevention campaign aimed at local women, held in the municipality every two years, the Program for Prevention of Breast Cancer.
Thus, between Wednesday 24 September and on 29th place in the town Torrena the second round of this year's revisions included in this program since the first was held during the last months of February and March.
This program submitted once every two years to all women aged 50 to 69 years to a thorough medical examination including the completion of a mammogram, to determine their state of health in order to act in time in case disease.
Thus, the objectives of screening is to reduce mortality from this disease and improve quality of life of women who suffer.
Thus, the mobile unit is located on the esplanade of Master Angel Palazón, while women included in this program have already received the relevant summons by mail at home.
In case of being in the right age and have not received the summons on February 20 should be directed to the health center.
Successful participation
The program consists of conducting a mammogram every 2 years to all women aged between 50 and 69 years.
The objectives of screening is to reduce mortality from this disease and improve quality of life of women who suffer.
It should be remembered that this is an initiative launched in 1996 by the Directorate General of Public Health of the Region of Murcia in collaboration with the Spanish Association Against Cancer, the City of Las Torres de Cotillas and the local Health Centre.
Participation in the previous year stood at 77.61% of the women involved in the program's target age, 5 points above the regional average stood at 72.7%.
