The Department of Social Policy and Public Safety of Cotillas Towers, through its Center for Social Services, has launched two separate Spanish language courses for immigrants living in the area with problems understanding the Spanish language.
With hours of Monday and Thursday (from 20 to 22'30 hours) and Tuesday and Thursday (10 to 12 hours, this women-only group), are about 40 students are benefiting from this initiative, which repeats the town and each time has more acceptance among immigrants.
With the Women's Center of the municipality as a backdrop, the objectives of this initiative include to facilitate coexistence between immigrants and people of the municipality and to provide means for the immigrant can cope properly when searching employment, relationships with others, etc.
In addition, it seeks to raise awareness of Spanish culture to the people who come to our country, making them participants in it and encouraging its integration into our society.
To this end, these Spanish classes as well as being a formative activity, are based on student participation in class, which combines theoretical teaching the Spanish language with exercises in reading, writing and, above all, conversation.
In search of integration
The topics discussed relate to aspects of Spanish culture and daily aspects, which, for their usefulness to the immigrant, to help you perform better and adapt to our society.
"For the integration of the immigrants in our society, we must start working for them know about our language and our culture," said Fina Almela, Councillor for Social Policy and Public Safety.
"We must remember that language is the greatest difficulty finding the time to get around our town, stopping in many cases the search for employment and relations with the inhabitants of the municipality," said Almela.
