The City of Las Torres de Cotillas continues to firm policy of environmental protection and in this context, recently received recognition for its work in the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Regional Government.
And is that the municipal project "Reforestation in the Pinar del Parque Las Palmeras" conducted in the surroundings of the Rambla Salada of the town has managed to offset the emission of 290 tons of CO2, an achievement that has been recognized by that Ministry .
The main objective of this action has been repopulating the landscapes of the municipality to meet the growing demand for green areas, a project that aims to recover a small space degraded by erosion and human activity, rebuilding a protective vegetation cover and avoid land degradation.
To this end, 110 copies have been planted with pines ceded by the Directorate General of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Regional Government.
The species used for reforestation that are resistant to adverse weather conditions and do not require an excessive intake of water as are the Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis), pine (Pinus pinea) and Canary Island pine (Pinus canariensis).
The site also has a small recreational area with natural furniture, where neighbors and visitors to the town can enjoy the landscape of the area.
